Sample eulogies are all over the internet -- but sometimes the free one are not the highest quality.
Using sample eulogies – found online or in a library / bookstore, can be a great way to create a foundation for your funeral speech. You can basically study eulogy samples to learn the structure of a eulogy and then use as a template.
Writing a eulogy may be the hardest thing you’ll ever write.. and writing it is only half of it. You must also present it. For me it was incredibly stressful but also incredibly rewarding. I encourage you to find samples online and study them rigorously.
When looking for sample eulogies, consider asking yourself these questions:
- How do the sample eulogies introduce the deceased?
- How does the author tie their life in with the deceased’s?
- How does the author bring up the qualities that the person brought to this world and the lives around them?
- Does the author use any humor in the funeral speech?
- How does the author close the funeral speech?
Using websites online to find sample eulogies can seem like a great strategy, and it is. But please be wary of all that you read on the internet – often much of it lacks quality. The best stuff for this topic is never free, and I recommend picking up a guide or a book at a bookstore on eulogy writing. After all, its a very important speech that must be done in a rather short amount of time. You want to come off genuine and sincere while simultaneously sounding confident and calm.
A eulogy is a true celebration of life, and pulling it off right is critical. But I am confident you can do it well – but do your research. Using sample eulogies is a great trick, and I encourage you to do try it out. I wish you my best!
